Quan Lan Island is a part of Bai Tu Long Bay, which covers an area of 11 square kilometers and stretches from the Van Don Mountains to Giot Mountain.
Quan Lan Island is located on a vital maritime corridor that connects Vietnam with countries such as China, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines. Numerous white sand beaches can be found throughout the island's coast, as well as the sea, where fishermen can find high-quality seafood like as squids, butterfish, mackerel, prawns, sea cucumber, and more.
Quan Lan was an important port for global trade between Vietnam and other countries in the 11th century. Many relics of trading operations have been uncovered in this area.
Quan Lan Temple is the island's most popular tourist destination, having been erected in the 18th century with an excellent architectural design and finely carved patterns and remaining largely intact to this day.
Stay
Quan Lan's accommodations are still mostly modest hostels or homestay due to its isolation. They don't require advance reservations because they are open all year. The cost of a room each night varies from $15 to $35.
Swimming
Quan Lan Beach, Son Hao Beach, and Minh Chau Beach are the three beaches of Quan Lan. In comparison to other beaches surrounding Halong Bay, all three beaches feature white sand and are quite pure. The most picturesque of the three beaches is Quan Lan Beach, which is the closest to the pier. Further into the island, Son Hao is 4 kilometers away, while Minh Chau is 10 kilometers away.
The best way to get there
Quan Lan may be reached from either Halong Bay or Cai Rong Pier (near Cua Ong). Ferries from Halong take around 1.5 hours, while speedboats take about 45 minutes from Cai Rong dock.
The best way to go around
Quan Lan is still one of the least developed islands in the Halong Bay area. You can rent a bicycle or take a tuktuk to move about (available for booking from most hostels).
