Thung Nang or Sunshine Valley belongs to the core area of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, UNESCO World Heritage. As its name suggests, the sun shines on every corner of the valley, through the branches of leafy, cliffs, rustic cottages on shore and down to the bottom of the water, creating a magnificent and quiet panorama.
To visit Thung Nang, from Thach Bich wharf, tourists sit on small boats along with boatmen who are sincere, pure, and friendly locals who take them along the 2.6km long Voi temple river. The two sides of the road are sedge grass, shady reeds along with rich and diverse fauna. Although it is a famous tourist destination, Thung Nang still retains the wild features of nature. The deeper the scenery, the more beautiful the scenery, the more and more diverse the cave system is, there are places where you have to lower your head so that you don't touch the stalactites above the ceiling of the cave, there are places where you have to look up very high to capture all the magic that nature bestowed on this place.
Thung Nang has many attractions such as: Ba Doi Mountain, Coc Mountain, Mang Mountain, Vang Mountain, Thung Nang Temple-the place to worship the Lord of Thuong Ngan, and the ancient Voi Dai Temple, where worshippers of Tran Trach Son Lam. Each of these valleys can be connected by a system of caves in the mountains. When the boat passes through the cave to take you from one valley to another, the scenery opening in front seems to be more beautiful, more charming. On days with light winds, you can even hear the sound of a reed flute blowing in the wind from reeds growing wild along the shore.
Thung Nang covers an area of 8 hectares and is divided into 2 parts: 3ha of Thung Nang Outer and 5ha of Thung Nang Inner. About 10 km from Ninh Binh city, it is located in Dam Khe hamlet, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province.
