Cua Dai is one of only five UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Vietnam, and it offers an unrivaled beach respite from Hoi An's medieval alleyways. Cua Dai Beach, a 3km stretch of beautiful white powdery beach situated north-east of Hoi An, is the ideal place to find your own slice of paradise. The water is crystal clear, with gentle tropical blue waves that are ideal for swimming and floating. On the beach, there are even change huts and a few houses strewn about.
There are also many excellent seafood restaurants along the coast, so it's worth staying for evening and sampling the fresh fare offered by the beachfront sellers. Another wonderful reason to visit Hoi An is Cua Dai, where you can take in all of the famed cultural and historical monuments before heading out to the beach to enjoy what is generally referred to be Vietnam's most gorgeous coastal shore. The likes of these crystal blue oceans and empty white sands are uncommon to come by in Vietnam.
If you are not renting a sun lounger, you will be expected to purchase a drink or some fresh fruit from one of the local hawkers. Cua Dai Beach is best visited during the week when the sands are almost empty. Weekends, on the other hand, are notoriously crowded. It's also preferable to go between April and August, when swimming is at its safest.
If you want to stay for a longer period of time, there are a few high-end resorts and some inexpensive accommodations nearby. Fly to Danang International Airport and then take a taxi to Cua Dai. The trip to the beach takes about 30 minutes, and the taxi ride should take no longer than 10 minutes if you are coming from Hoi An.
Cua Dai is a wide and long beach with sloping soft sands located 5 kilometers from Hoi An in Quang Nam Province. On a clear day, Cham Island may be seen in the distance, with its willow trees offering shade to enjoy the view. Arriving at the beach early in the morning to watch the fishing boats cast off for the day and sell their catch to the eateries and hawkers lining the beach is a pleasant experience. The scale of Cua Dai means that everyone can find their own place and set up for as long as they like, making it easy to locate your own private spot and set up for as long as you want.
At the Cua Dai beach, there are a few water sports available, as well as plenty of deckchairs, parasols, and even a wonderful line of trees providing shade, so you won't have to worry about overheating in the sun. When visiting Cua Dai, you can expect to be bombarded with offers of souvenirs, fruit, beverages, and other items from beach vendors; pricing will be significantly higher than elsewhere, but there will be plenty to choose from if you are in the market for something.
