Dau Be Island, in the southeast of Ha Long Bay, is 500 meters east of Hang Trai Island and 28 kilometers from Bai Chay Cruise Port. It is part of an archipelago in a bay outside of Ha Long Bay. The island is 22 863 m2 in size, with the highest point of 139 meters. The steep island cliffs act as a barrier, shielding the island from the waves crashing into the Gulf from the east.
Because it is a well-known tourist destination that has been known for a long time, Dau Be Island is famed for Ba Ham Lake. The Ba Ham Lake system is made up of three large ocean basins linked by a short cave. Stalactites dangle from the cave's ceiling, forming unusual shapes and sizes. Orchids, banyans, and palm trees are all found on the island. All year long, the island, which is also home to golden monkeys, birds, flying squirrels, and bats, is covered with blossoming flowers. Many marine creatures thrive beneath the surface of the sea. "Upon arriving at Ho Ba Ham, you have the same feeling as at Luon Cave, Sung Sot Cave, but the terrain here is considerably nicer," according to "Merveille de Monde," a 1938 publication specializing in the introduction of scenic Ho Ba Ham. Tourists enjoy exploring this unique environment, despite the entry being more difficult than at Luon Cave.
