Sung Sot (Surprise) Cave on Bo Hon island is located in the central area of Ha Long Bay natural world wonder. This is one of the most beautiful and majestic caves in the bay. The way to Sung Sot cave follows the craggy stone steps, threading under the green foliage of the forest.
Found by the French in 1901, Sung Sot Cave, which translates to "Surprised Cave" or "Amazing Cave" in Ha Long Bay.
In the cave of Sung Sot, there are two partitions. The first resembles a theater with several stalactites dangling from the high ceiling. A tiny hallway leads to the second chamber, which is bathed in natural light. The cave's natural skylight is created by light filtering in from above through a wide entrance, which also acts as the cave's exit.
An "imperial garden" with a beautiful pond and a stunning panorama of miniature mountains arises at the chamber's deepest point. There are a lot of birds and flora here.
The cave of Sung Sot is 10,000 m2 in size. The 500-meter paved passage is lined with thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. The corridor is lined with light poles that brighten the breathtaking view. Spotlights of various hues are positioned in an unobtrusive manner to contribute to the grotto's enchantment.
The walls and countless fissures and crevices of Sung Sot cave, which is around 30 meters high, are proof of millions of years of stunning natural creation. A huge formation stretches from floor to ceiling near the exit, tapering at the middle to form a concave pillar that appears to hold the ceiling in place. Walking into the cave allows one's imagination to run wild, conjuring up all sorts of amazing creatures and imaginative constructions.
The best way to discover Sung Sot Cave is booking a Halong Bay Cruise for a day tour or overnight cruise trip.
