Hoang Yen Chao Castle is a one-of-a-kind architectural structure that combines Eastern and Western styles. It is located in Na Hoi Tho Village, Bac Ha district, and was built in the twentieth century. It has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its proximity to the Bac Ha Market (just 300 meters away).
Hoang Yen Chao, and later his son Hoang A Tuong, erected the castle as their home. It also serves as a stronghold due to its two-story design. The castle is strategically located, allowing its inhabitants to influence and dominate the entire Bac Ha valley. The white castle stands out against the blue sky and verdant plains of Lao Cai from afar.
In the past, the castle was protected from enemies by high walls, blockhouses, and deep trenches, as well as formidable defense towers. Regrettably, such excellent features have been lost to time. The deadly strap full of spikes placed around the castle, however, may still be seen (caution: they are real!). After you've walked around the building, go inside and look at all the remnants that have survived the ravages of time.
