Bai Dinh Pagoda is known for its enormous size and is a collection of Buddhist architectural monuments that include new, massive, and intimidating temples in the newly-constructed Bai Dinh pagoda region, which contrast with ancient and revered shrines in the old Bai Dinh pagoda area. Bai Dinh Pagoda has a large population and holds many records, including: Asia's largest bronze Buddha, Asia's longest Pagoda corridor Arhat, and Southeast Asia's largest bronze Maitreya statue.
The Bai Dinh pagoda mountain region, which spans 539 hectares in Gia Sinh Commune, Gia Vien District, is located inside the Trang An eco-tourism complex.
The new Bai Dinh Pagoda was built in 2003 and sits on an 80-hectare plot of land. It is nestled against Bai Dinh Mountain and overlooks a lake near the Hoang Long River. The inner Three Entrance Gate of a temple, a bell tower, a temple dedicated to Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, Phap Chu temple dedicated to Shakyamuni Buddha, and Tam The Temple dedicated to Buddha were arranged in five layers upward, strongly imbued with Vietnamese architecture.
Tam The Temple and Dharma Temple remain the most crucial stressing points of these outstanding religion works. The size of two temples can be up to 1000 square meters (the main sanctuary of conventional pagodas can only be about 150 square meters due to partitions imposed by the length of wood beams). Dharma Temple reaches a height of 22 meters and houses four world-record-breaking statues. The "Owners" of Bai Dinh pagoda are proud of four sculptures: three bronze Tam The statues and one Great Buddha Sakyamuni statue. Each Tam The statue weighs 50 tons and stands 12 meters tall, while the Great Buddha Sakyamuni statue stands 16 meters tall and weighs 100 tons.
The group of 500 Arhat statues on the hill to the right of Dharma Temple is also awe-inspiring. These 500 Arhat statues are made from Ninh Binh stone, each measuring 2.3 meters high.
The old pagoda area and the new pagoda area make up the population of Bai Dinh pagoda. The new pagoda has massive architecture while maintaining a traditional character that is in keeping with modern Vietnam. Tam The temple is roughly 800 meters away from Bai Dinh Pagoda, which is located alongside Dinh Mountain. This pagoda is near the summit of a peaceful wooded area that includes a Buddhist grotto, God Cao Son's temple, and Nguyen's temple. The pagoda was designated as a national historical and cultural landmark. Many architectural elements and antiquities from Ly's reign can be found.
