In 970, Dinh Bo Linh set his own era as Thai Binh: "Build a palace, set up a court, set a hundred mandarins, set up six troops". That great career has been commented by historian Le Van Huu, "Tien Hoang is talented, wiser than people, bravest in life. At the time when Vietnam had no owner, the chiefs were strong, they fought with all 12 envoys and obeyed, then opened the country and set up the capital, changed the title of Emperor, placed a hundred mandarins, set up six troops, the regime was almost enough, sure. It is the will of heaven because our country, Vietnam, gave birth to a saint" (Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu).

The Dinh Tien Hoang King Temple is located at the foot of Ma Yen mountain, the historical - cultural relic of Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, in Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lu district. Legend has it that when King Ly Thai To moved the capital from Hoa Lu to Dai La Citadel (1010), the people built temples to worship King Dinh and King Le in the old palace to commemorate the two heroes who had great merit with the country. When it was first built, the temple turned to the north, overlooking Tiger and Che mountains. In the Late Le Dynasty (Seventeenth century), the people rebuilt and rotated in the direction of the East as it is today. In 1898, the temple was restored, making the stone threshold and the pillar rock. The temple is built in the style of "Noi Cong, Ngoai Quoc" (inside is the word "工", outside is the word "国"), the main road is shaped like the letter 王 (king).

Dinh Tien Hoang King Temple indoor is a stone dragon, flanked by two beautiful monolithic green stone clams. Next to it is the Nghi Mon Ngoai (outer door), and 25m away is the Nghi Mon Noi (inner door). It can be said that this door is the earliest three-column architecture in Vietnam. In the interior, on the left is the Khai Thanh temple, which worships the father and mother (King Dinh's father and mother), and on the right is the Vong house, where the elders used to discuss the offering. Through the two pillars is the dragon yard. In the middle of the dragon yard is a stone sieve symbolizing the court ceremony. Facing in front of Khai Thanh and Vong houses, we see two "Vuon hoa ngoai" (the wall of the garden is like the outer ring of the word "national"); the flower garden on the right has a rock in the shape of "Cuu Long" (nine dragons). In the middle of the flower garden on the left, there is a rock with the appearance of "a human figure worshiping a general".

Stepping through two bronze pillars standing like pillars supporting the sky, we stand next to the Long Sang (bed of the King), a rare and beautiful work of art, 1.80m long and 1.40m wide. The Long Sang symbolizes the dragon pedestal during the reign of the king, surrounded by two rows of pillars to plant flags, bowls, and weapons on the festival day, symbolizing the ranks of the mandarins and the ten dragon swords that represent the ten armies.

Dinh Tien Hoang King Temple has three halls of worship, incense burning and the main palace. At the end is the worshiping hall. In the middle of the worshiping hall there is a great inscription with the three words "Orthodox water" (the beginning of the orthodoxy), praising the merits of King Dinh, who was the one who put down the rebellion and inaugurated the unification of the nation. In the center is the main palace, worshiping King Dinh and the three princes of the Dinh dynasty. In the middle of the main palace is the statue of King Dinh Tien Hoang, cast in gold bronze, painted with silver, and made in the Nguyen Dynasty. He is wearing a hat by Binh Thien, a long collar shirt, and sitting on a dragon - the symbol of the emperor, majestic and dignified appearance. On the left is the statue of Nam Viet Vuong Dinh Lien, the eldest son; on the right is the statue of Dinh Hang Lang and Dinh Toan, the two second children of King Dinh.

The Dinh Tien Hoang King Temple is a precious architectural and sculptural work from the seventeenth century. Although it has been repaired many times, it still retains quite intact a number of sculptures and architectural elements of the Late Le period with themes of fairies riding dragons, two dragons adoring leaves, two dragons adoring the moon... These sculptures not only decorate the temple more splendidly, but also show the excellent sculpting skills of the folk artisans of Hoa Lu from more than three hundred years ago.
