The Vietnam National Museum of History houses almost 7,000 priceless artifacts, some of which are thousands of years old and exhibit the country's cultural variety.
The Vietnam National Museum of History is located at No. 1 Pham Ngu Lao Street in the Hoan Kiem District, behind the iconic Hanoi Opera House. The Ecole Française d'Extreme-Orient began construction on the Louis Finot Museum in 1926 and completed it in 1932. The museum was renamed the Museum of Vietnam History after being taken over by the Vietnamese government and opening to the public on September 3, 1958.
Despite the fact that the museum is barely 2,000 square meters in size, it presents a comprehensive overview of Vietnam's history because of its chronological arrangement. The museum contains two levels on which Vietnam's history is arranged into ten sections, beginning with ancient times and ending with President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence that gave Vietnam its start.
More than 7,000 priceless artefacts, some dating back thousands of years, are kept here, representing the country's cultural variety. The historical artefacts on display are not only Vietnamese in origin but also come from other cultures such as China, Japan, Thailand, and especially Champ, which has over 50 stone inscriptions dating from the 7th to the 13th century.
To fully comprehend the antiques and relics on display in the museum, visitors may need to utilize their imagination as well as their sensitivity. Because the explanations of the artifacts are sparse, most of them are in Vietnamese, and they just identify what the thing is rather than what it means. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to put your ability to appreciate art to the test.
