The Perfume Pagoda (Chua Huong) is one of the most important religious sites in Buddhist Vietnam, a vast complex of Buddhist temples, shrines built into the Huong Tich limestone mountains.
The Perfume Pagoda (Chua Huong) is a large complex of Buddhist temples and shrines constructed in the Huong Tich limestone mountains and is one of the most prominent religious sites in Buddhist Vietnam. Millions of Vietnamese pilgrims go here every spring following the Lunar New Year to pray for all the health and prosperity they'll need to get through the year.
According to the book Huong Son Thien Tru Pha, Huong Tich temple was established in the 15th century by a monk who happened across the location on his route to seek enlightenment. Later, to take advantage of the wonderful surroundings in this location, several shrines and temples were built.
The Perfume Pagoda is situated in the interior of a grotto at the pinnacle of the Perfume Mountain. To get there, climb a long and steep staircase (4 km; usually takes 1 hour) or take the cableway to the top of the mountain, where we will begin our tour of the pagodas, temples, and grottoes that make up the Perfume Pagoda tour. Some of the features of the Perfume Pagoda include the Thien Tru Pagoda, Hinh Bong Pagoda, Giai Oan Pagoda, Thanh Son Pagoda, Huong Tich Grotto, and the temples of Long Van, Cay Khe, and Tuyet Son are some of the features of the Perfume Pagoda.
Surprisingly, the Perfume Pagoda festival is known to be the longest and the oldest festival in the history of the country, usually takes place in during 3 months, starting from the 6th of January to the Mar of the lunar month, the peak of the festival is from the full moon of January to the 18th of the second lunar month in Huong Tich, Tuyet Son, and Long Van.
