Hoi An's Kim Bong Carpentry Village is situated in Hoi An, Quang Nam's Cam Kim Commune. The village was established in the late 15th century, and the inhabitants were originally from the north of Vietnam. For its carpentry, it is renowned. From unique buildings in the current city of Ha Noi to the former capital of Hue Citadel, royal tombs, and the majority of architectural projects in Hoi An, artisans work on furnishings and homes all throughout the nation.
Established in the fifteenth century, Kim Bong woodworking village had rapid development in the late 16th and early 17th centuries and built a village with three industries: shipbuilding, civil wooden furniture, and historic architectural construction.
It is conveniently situated for raft transportation, shipbuilding, and launching because it is on the downstream right bank of the Thu Bon River. Additionally, it provides its goods to nations all over the world through merchant ships. Both East Kim Bong and West Kim Bong Carpentry Villages specialize in the construction of ships, and the majority of their product designs have been around for many years. The Kim Bong villagers built the majority of the architectural projects in Hoi An Ancient Town.
Over 600 years of history have been preserved in the community. The woodwork has long been a symbol of Hoi An tourism. The rustic aspect of the items in Kim Bong carpentry village sets it apart most from other conventional villages. They still maintain their natural wood color even after being painted or polished. The carpentry technique known as Kim Bong is a wonderful synthesis of the Cham Kingdom, Japan, China, and the skilled hands of Vietnamese artisans.
The sounds of chiseling, drilling, and chopping can be heard from both sides of the Thu Bon River as soon as visitors set foot on this property. The sound has become an indispensable part of the life of Kim Bong.
Visitors to the Kim Bong carpentry village have the opportunity to go inside the workshop and see the skilled craftsmen's intricate carvings. They can also locate unusual goods like the censer decorated with 1000 dragons and displayed in Hanoi to celebrate the 1000-year Thang Long or the Japanese Covered Bridge in Hoi An's ancient quarter. Hoi An's Kim Bong Carpentry Village is now among Hoi An's most impressive tourist destinations.
To visit Kim Bong Carpentry, visitors must take a boat excursion on the Thu Bon River from Hoi An. To go to Kim Bong Village, it takes roughly 10 minutes. The Kim Bong village has no entrance fee.
