Despite of being built in the late of the Twentieth century, the Hanoi Ancient House (Heritage House) is quite intact with typical architecture of ancient house.
Hanoi Ancient House (Heritage House) is divided into two major blocks, with a square yard in the middle on the ground floor and a tiny balcony on the first floor connecting them. The yard is located in the center of the building to help regulate the temperature and give sunlight and cool breezes. For the owner's enjoyment and leisure, small plants and flower pots can be placed on the balcony above.
The street-facing room on the bottom floor is used for selling items, while the living room on the second floor is used to receive guests and honor the ancestor. The bedroom is located behind the living room and is connected to it by a balcony. All of the behind-the-scenes space on the ground floor is used for production activities, followed by the kitchen and bathroom.
All of the walls in this house, like those in other ancient Hanoi homes, are painted in a traditional yellow color, and all of the furniture and décor items are in good shape. Despite being refurbished in 1999, this mansion retains its authentic and antique beauty.
Today, travelers can visit Hanoi historical house to view how ancient Hanoians lived, as well as to enjoy and purchase Vietnamese traditional décor items and souvenirs.
