Long Son Pagoda, aka White Buddha Temple because there is a big white Buddha seated on a lotus blossom sits behind the pagoda, is one of the most beautiful pagodas in Nha Trang, built in the 19th century.
Trai Thuy Pagoda was the first pagoda built on Trai Thuy Mountain in 1886. It was, however, devastated in a storm in 1990, and was later rebuilt down the mountain to its current location on Thai Nguyen Street. The pagoda was extensively damaged after a major storm in 1900, and once the temple was restored, it was transferred to the foot of the mountain, where it still remains today.
There is also a garden on the temple grounds. Dragon mosaics made of glass and ceramic tiles are used to embellish the entrance and roof. Modern versions of classical elements adorn the main ceremonial hall. The dragons' nasal hairs are wrapped around both sides of the main altar's pillars.
Climb the stone steps from the pagoda to the top of the mountain, where there is a playground with a 14-meter-high white figure of Buddha seated in a Lotus blossom. It provides spectacular panoramic views of Nha Trang and the surrounding countryside, and the pagoda can be seen from practically every part of the city. As you approach the pagoda from the street, the 152 stone stairs leading up from the ectrance of the pagoda are widely used as a vantage point to view over Nha Trang city.Spend some time exploring the area to the left, where there is an entrance to another pagoda hall.
