Cho Lon in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is Vietnam's largest Chinatown, with roots reaching back to 1778. It is also a historically and culturally significant location. The Chinese minority hid here from the Tay Son and had to reconstruct the place again after the attack, with up to 70% of those who tried to flee on boats reported to have died. Those who made it settled down and started selling a range of Chinese goods. Cholon was a booming black market for US soldiers trafficking in American Army issue items during the Vietnam War.

The area is now a popular tourist destination, attracting a large number of Taiwanese and Chinese visitors. Cholon is a fascinating site to come when visiting Ho Chi Minh City if you want to witness classical Chinese buildings from a bygone era, as well as a variety of Chinese restaurants.
The central Binh Tay market is bustling, packed, and cluttered, with narrow aisles selling a variety of commodities. When compared to other markets in Ho Chi Minh City, this market can be disappointing to visitors because the products are not as diverse. Nonetheless, the main lure of Cholon is to appreciate the true Chinese ambiance that has been here for hundreds of years, not to shop. It's a fantastic area to visit at night.
The bustling Binh Tay Market is Chinatown's main attraction, offering everything from fresh fruit to Vietnamese goods, particularly those with a Chinese flavor.
Two temples in the region (Thien Hau Pagoda on Nguyen Trai Street and Quan Am Temple on Lao Tu Street) Both buildings' Chinese-Buddhist-style architecture and interiors abound with pagodas, courtyards, altars, and murals. The Cholon Mosque on Nguyen Trai Street and Cha Tam, a modest Catholic cathedral on Duong Hoc Lac Street, are both located in Chinatown.
