Vung Vieng (Vong Vieng) fishing village in Ha Long Bay is located peacefully in the middle of the wild and poetic sea, overshadowed by thousands of rocky islands. This is a floating fishing village with a stable population for a long time, hidden in its own precious and unique historical and cultural values.
The name Vung Vieng is explained by many fishermen that, before the ships in this area come to cook rice, it is very difficult because the waves outside the sea are big, swaying, swinging the pot... So it is always called "Vung Venh", later changed to "Vung Vieng"... No one knows what the truth of the story is, but with such witty fisherman's explanations, it is easy to convince many people.
Vung Vieng fishing village has more than 60 households with about 300 people. Compared to fishing villages in Ha Long Bay, Vung Vieng is the second largest after Cua Van fishing village. People live on rafts located close together along the edge of the rocky island, mainly making a living through fishing, aquaculture and tourism.
Coming to Vung Vieng, visitors seem to enter another world. The entrance is a spectacular large cave that eats through the mountain bed, which is also a Halong Bay attraction. Beautiful and peaceful natural landscape with four sides of high mountains.
The most interesting thing is probably being immersed in nature, floating on bamboo boats or kayaking, watching the poetic mountains, feeling each cool breeze of the sea blowing in. Visitors can be guided to visit white sand beaches with very few human footprints, pearl farming areas, or enjoy the pure and magical features of the morning and afternoon on Vung Vieng sea.
No noise, no rush, no annoying calls (because there is almost no phone signal) ... enough for you to listen to nature, life slowly flows.
