The cuisines of Vietnam are fantastic, and the Mekong Delta food is no exception. As a result, one of the best things to do in the area is sample the local foods. The delta, like many others, is known for its local foods rather than its fine dining. If you come here, you must try Hu Tieu, Bun Rieu, Pia Cake, a Vietnamese pancake, and, for the courageous, Coconut Larvae.
The local people in the Mekong Delta use any natural ingredient to prepare a special dish. You may hear about floral meals such as common sesban, sesbania, or flower hotpot from time to time. They may sound unusual, but they're actually quite tasty.
Together, cooking and sampling local foods with the locals will provide you with an even more unique experience than anywhere else. Rather than sitting on the street, you may choose to relax on a floating boat in the market and savor your delectable fare.
You can visit any floating market in the Mekong Delta to sample native cuisine. However, because the markets are held early in the morning, only breakfast will be served. You can go to the nearby village's markets and eateries for other meals of the day. The following are some suggestions for specific dishes: Banh beo at Hang Bong market in My Tho, Hu Tieu at Chu 5 Hoa restaurant in My Tho, baked rolls at Thanh Van restaurant in Can Tho, and crab hotpot at Co Ut restaurant in Dong Thap.
