Ninh Binh is a bridge that connects the northern and southern provinces, and it is situated on a major transportation corridor that includes National Highway 1A and the trans-Vietnam railway. Getting to Ninh Binh from Hanoi is relatively simple, by train, bus, or motorcycle.
1. By local bus
Traveling by local bus from Hanoi to Ninh Binh is strongly recommended due to the convenience with which buses can be boarded at any time at Giap Bat bus station and the most cost-effective pricing of only 100,000 VND per ticket. Ninh Binh station, which is located in the heart of the city, will be the last destination for buses running between Hanoi and Ninh Binh.
2. By train
Train from Hanoi to Ninh Binh departs Hanoi railway station and stops in Nam Dinh before continuing on to Ninh Binh Train Station in the city's center. Traveling by train takes about two and a half hours and costs between $3 and $5, depending on the type of ticket purchased.
3. By motorcycle
Tourists who want to see the beauty of Vietnam's villages with beautiful green rice farms, towering mountains, or poetic rivers on the side of the road may find that traveling by motorbike is a nice option. The routine is simple enough to follow without a map because all you have to do is follow National Highway 1A north and look for milestones along the route.
Motorbikes can be rented for between $8 and $10 per day in Hanoi's Old Quarter. To rent a motorcycle from Hanoi to Ninh Binh, however, you may have to deposit a sum of money up to $450 as well as your identification card with the motorcycle agents (depends on the rental policy of each agent).
