One of two 18-hole golf courses located inside a 1,000-acre integrated resort complex is the PGA Ocean Golf Course at Novaworld Phan Thiet. On the southern Vietnamese coast, close to the East Sea, Phan Thiet is renowned for its clear blue sea, fine white sand, warm sunshine, and consistent weather all year long.
The Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) has granted Ocean Course its first license in Vietnam. The coastal-style Greg Norman signature design plays over 7,400 yards. Modern grass varieties are used by Novaworld to guarantee ideal playing conditions all year round.
The Phan Thiet golf course winds through lush vegetation and over sand dunes. Numerous tee alternatives that can alter the playing distance from each teeing ground by as much as 100 yards are a design element of PGA Ocean. Natural, rough-styled bunkers that flow into natural settings blend with the local flora and fauna to achieve an exceptional harmony with the groomed turf. Greens frequently have multiple tiers and exhibit slight undulations. The daily course setup can be versatile and varied due to shifting wind conditions.
The par three fifth hole, a downhill par three with sea vistas and a small stamp green guarded by a front-facing bunker and severe runoffs, is one of the course's standout holes. Making par requires careful club selection that takes the wind into account. A lengthy par-4 that doglegs away from the ocean opens the back nine. Drives that miss the corner provide an easier shot to the green but run the danger of ending up in the waste bunker that surrounds the entire fairway. The PGA Ocean holes, eleven through eighteen, follow this course and are even more difficult. These include more direct, safer ways to the par-4's and par-5's as well as aggressive lines that cut the course in half but add additional challenge.
The course's three signature holes, 13, 14, and 15, are referred to as the "Shark Loop." When played correctly, the 13th hole's short par-5's from an elevated tee can be reached in two shots. The 14th hole offers the best chance in Vietnam for back-to-back eagles and is a drivable par-4's. The 15th hole, a 650-yard par-5's with a challenging approach shot to a two-tiered waste bunker-protected green, marks the conclusion of The Shark Loop.
The amenities at Novaworld are excellent. A 325-yard range, short game practice sections, and an 18-hole putting course are available as warm-up facilities. Other facilities include several food and beverage options; two of the top on-course kiosks in Vietnam; a well-stocked pro shop; and opulent changing areas. All of this makes for a really unique golfing experience in Vietnam, especially when combined with the PGA Ocean Course's location, elevation, and panoramic sea views.
