Vietnam Golf & Country Club is known as the home of the Asian Tour and Vietnam Masters events. The course is set amongst 300 hectares of land and includes two championship golf courses. Both courses pass through mature trees with little change in the landscape. The layout and style of the golf course at Vietnam Golf & Country Club give visitors the impression that it was always going to be a golf course. Only 17 kilometers separate this golf course from Ho Chi Minh Metropolis's core, making it one of the closest to the city.
The 7,106-yard West Course at Vietnam Golf & Country Club, which has been open since November 1995, has quick, level greens and tight, tree-lined fairways. The Vietnam Open Asian PGA Tour competitions were held on the par-72 championship course in 1995 and 1997.
The Vietnam Golf & Country Club features difficult tee shots to constrained landing zones as it meanders through primarily oil palm trees. A single tree stands alone in the middle of the fairway on a few holes. All year long, Bermuda Tifeagle greens offer stunning putting surfaces. The West Course's championship length contributes to its difficulty. Only golfers with a single-digit handicap should use the back tees. This course may make for a very long afternoon of golf, even from the ordinary men's tees, especially if drives are off-target.
The 11th hole at Vietnam Golf & Country Club is among the greatest. The 408-yard par four has a left dogleg. The tee shot must clear the trees on the left to see the green. The second shot must contend with a sizable tree in the middle of the fairway and bunkers on each side of the green. An approach shot needs to have some spin on it to maintain the slightly raised, shallow, and wide green.
The 6,946-yard East Course is the club's second course of Vietnam Golf & Country Club and is located there. The East Course, which was created by Lee Trevino and debuted in 1997, features larger fairways than the West Course but also has 110 strategically placed bunkers, water hazards, and undulating, quick-rolling Bermuda Tifdwarf greens. Even an experienced tour pro will hesitate before "going for it" since the layout is so difficult. Many careless golfers have met their demise on the East Course's sloping greens. Golfers must play wisely and set up strong approach approaches to give relatively straight putts, although on these greens, it is easier to say than to do. The golfer's putting abilities have frequently determined whether a side bet is won or lost.
The clubhouse at Vietnam Golf & Country Club is large and immaculate for a private club. Japanese showers and dry and wet saunas are available in the spacious locker and changing rooms as a wonderful treat after any round. A wide variety of foods are available at the two clubhouse restaurants, with the local Vietnamese noodle soups coming highly recommended. The pro shop is one of the best in Vietnam, with a fantastic assortment of golf clothes, new and used equipment, and the newest balls and gloves.
Vietnam Golf & Country Club is technically a private golf club, giving residents and foreigners priority. However, guest reservations are accepted on weekdays when the course is least busy. For a day of golfing in Saigon, both the East and West Courses are excellent options.
