Many of the holes at SAM Tuyen Lam Golf & Resort have long tee shots into narrow fairways. At SAM Tuyen Lam Golf & Resort, accuracy over distance is preferred, therefore drivers can typically be kept in the bag. Bent grass covers the entire surface of the well-guarded, gently sloping greens. Bermuda grass grows naturally on fairways.

Hole 3 is a tight dogleg right that goes uphill. Right-side out-of-bounds surrounds the hole; the green is fronted by a sizable bunker; and the fairway is divided by a little creek. The second shot at SAM Tuyen Lam Golf & Resort is one of the most difficult. The majority of players take a risk but end up in the stream or OB on the right side of the green. There is space over the green to get down for par, so take one or two more clubs.

The par-4 hole 12 at SAM Tuyen Lam Golf & Resort is another outstanding hole. There is a high bunker that crosses the fairway 200 yards from the teeing area, and the hole plays as a dogleg right that is steeply uphill. To clear the threat, a monster drive of at least 240 yards is necessary; otherwise, a layup of about 180 yards is a safer play. Additionally, a vertical rock wall that was chiseled out of the mountain to construct the hole frames the entire right side. If the ball is struck to this side, it will bounce back onto the fairway and off the hill. The double-level green and bunkers on either side of it add to the difficulty of the situation. The slope of the mountains in the area is followed when putting. The hole is so challenging that a score of bogey is commendable.

A lovely clubhouse, driving range, and practice grounds are among the amenities of SAM Tuyen Lam Golf & Resort. The 12 guest rooms at the golf facility are somewhat modest, as are the on-site restaurant, pro shop, and locker facilities. There are also stay-and-play alternatives on site at a nearby five-star hotel and enormous opulent villas. The staff are courteous, but it would be best to bring a Vietnamese translation to help with the formalities. Despite the mountainous terrain of SAM Tuyen Lam Golf & Resort, golf carts may be rented, or you can choose to walk the course.
