Crossing the road in Hanoi is a real challenge, but great experience. It is not the same as crossing the road anywhere in the world. There are some tips for safe passage on the streets of Hanoi.
Crossing the road is not a problem if you step with locals. However, if you decide to try this challenge by yourself, kindly refer below useful guidance:
1. Please do not wait more than two walking signals before crossing the road, since you may become restless waiting for a few more signals and still be unable to cross because locals continue to walk even when there is a walking signal.
2. Before you go, observe the approaching vehicles to evaluate their movements. Continue straight and steadily across the street once you've gone. Bikers and car drivers would instinctively avoid colliding with you.
3. Don't look behind, turn to the left or right, or reluctantly halt in the middle of the road, as this makes it difficult for other drivers to comprehend your intentions.
4. If you're crossing the road in a group, make sure everyone is close together to avoid creating a traffic jam. Holding hands may assist in preventing the group from being split up by approaching automobiles.
5. In Vietnam, hand-signaling is more effective than zebra-crossing in paving the way for pedestrians.
6. If there is an open area, take a chance and accelerate swiftly.
Have you a success -:)
