Long Son Pagoda, also well known as White Buddha Temple (Behind the pagoda is a huge white Buddha seated on a lotus blossom) is one of the most beautiful pagoda with an impressive construction in Nha Trang, founded in 19th century.
The pagoda was first built on Trai Thuy Moutain in 1886 and named Dang Long Pagoda. In 1990, however, it was damaged in a storm and then being rebuilt down the mountain to its present location on Thai Nguyen Street. During a severe storm in 1900, the pagoda was badly damaged, and after the restoration of the temple, he was moved to the foot of the mountain, where it stands to this day.
The temple grounds also includes a garden. The entrance and roofs are decorated with dragon mosaics which are built from glass and ceramic tiles. The main ceremonial hall is adorned with modern interpretations of classical motifs. The nasal hairs of the dragons are wrapped around the pillars on either side of the main altar.
From the pagoda up the stone steps to climb the mountain, where there is a Playground with a 14-metre high white statue of Buddha sitting in the Lotus flower. It offers great panoramic views of Nha Trang and nearby rural areas, in turn, and the pagoda is visible from almost all corners of the city. As you approach the pagoda from the street, the 152 stone steps up from the ectrance of the pagoda, and is often used as a vantage point to look over the Nha Trang city. Take some time to explore off to the left, where there’s an entrance to another hall of the pagoda.
