In the bustling beach town of Nha Trang, sun-kissed leisure is a daily occurrence. After all, here in Vietnam, there are more days of sunshine per year than anywhere else. Tran Phu, the town's major beach, is a seven-kilometer stretch of immaculate sand and crystal-clear water surrounded by rustling palms, colorful seaside cafés, and seafood restaurants. Here are 7 compelling reasons to add Nha Trang to your travel itinerary.
1. Stunning Beaches
The most appealing feature of Nha Trang is its sandy beach, which overlooks a beautiful bay filled with 19 islands and islets. Every day, visitors go to Tran Phu Beach to soak in the rays from the countless beach loungers. Watersports are a big part of the pleasure all along the beach, from parasailing to kite surfing, paddle boarding to jet skiing. Take a motorbike ride out of town to Long Beach to get away from the crowds. Shallow blue waters and local restaurants serving freshly caught seafood can be found here. For a day trip, drive 60 kilometers north of the city to Doc Let, one of Vietnam's most beautiful pieces of coastline.
2. Mineral-rich Mud Baths
It's impossible to visit Nha Trang without visiting the mud baths. The mineral-rich clay utilized in Nha Trang is supposed to provide medicinal and skin-healing properties, as well as improve circulation and moisturization. Spring for a cold waterfall shower after being drenched in oozing, sticky mud. Then take a refreshing plunge in one of the hot mineral pools. Book a coffee massage or a chocolate body wrap if you're feeling extra indulging. The most popular mud bath in the city is at Thap Ba Hot Springs, where you can extend your visit by visiting a vast water park with slides, pools, and exhilarating watersports. Overall, it was a great day for everyone.
3. Fresh Seafood
Nha Trang is known as Vietnam's seafood capital for a reason. The seas off the coast of Khanh Hoa are teeming with marine life and provide the fresh fish and shellfish that are the highlight of many a supper in Nha Trang. In Nha Trang, there's no way to be hungry between the streetside cafes, restaurants, and upmarket hotels. Eat with the locals or splurge on five-star buffets at the hotels along the strip for a more in-depth tour of the city's culinary possibilities.
4. Island Adventures
Make a day of it during your trip to go out into the harbor and view the islands off the shore. Hon Mun Island is Vietnam's only marine protected area, making it perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. VinWonders is a self-contained island playground complete with a large amusement park and a world-class golf course. Best of all, it's reached through a breathtaking cable car trip – Southeast Asia's longest. Monkey Island, as its name suggests, is home to over a thousand primates, whereas Yen Sao Island is home to thousands of Salangane Swiftlets.
5. Five-star Luxury Hotels & Resorts
Nha Trang has a range of intriguing accommodation that you won't find anyplace else in Vietnam. From ultra-luxe resorts to tranquil getaways to downtown hotels, you'll find the right place to rest your head. The rough coastline between Cam Ranh Airport and Nha Trang is also being developed, with ten new resorts planned.
6. World-class Nightlife
If there's one thing Nha Trang understands how to do, it's throwing parties. The town's thriving nightlife culture is anchored by the Sailing Club Nha Trang, which has been a mainstay for more than two decades. Weekend beach parties at the Sailing Club are well-known throughout Vietnam, and you can expect to party with a mix of locals, expats, and foreigners. The Skylight Nha Trang, located on the 43rd floor of the Havana Hotel, offers 360-degree views of the city from its Skydeck. International DJs and live performances take the stage after dusk.
7. Fascinating Cultural Sites
Nha Trang has a plethora of cultural activities to keep culture buffs occupied. The Ponagar Cham Towers, built by the Cham people in the 8th century, are a must-see. Its stunning architecture incorporates Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam, among other religious influences. The beautiful French-style stained glass windows and massive columns of Nha Trang Cathedral are a sight to behold in town. A huge Buddha statue stares over the city from a mountaintop at the Long Song Pagoda. The tranquil Buddhist Meditation Institute is a little out of town but well worth the trek. The institute is surrounded by multi-layered gardens with flowers and plants, and it looks out over a lovely view of paddies and mountains.
