Mekong Delta features a diverse terrain ranging from delta to island, a romantic river with fruit-laden orchards, fertile rice fields, and year-round sunshine. Furthermore, the rich historical artifacts and unique culture of four ethnic groups (Kinh, Hoa, Cham, and Khmer) draw many domestic and international tourists to the Mekong Delta.
The Mekong Delta is peaceful, with beautiful natural scenery and a spectacular Mekong River. Its unique river culture, rustic local people, picturesque rice fields, and tropical fruit-laden orchards throughout the year... make the Mekong Delta a must-visit destination on Vietnam's discovery journey. Much amazing experience in Mekong Delta tours, such as visiting the famous floating markets of Can Tho (Cai Rang Floating Market), Tien Giang (Cai Be Floating Market), Ben Tre, and Ha Tien, relaxing on the beautiful beach of Phu Quoc Island, or learning about local life in a floating village.
The Mekong Delta is the area in southern Vietnam where the Mekong River meets the sea and empties. It is a lush and fertile region covered in rice fields that produces over half of Vietnam's agricultural output. Many rivers and canals split the Mekong Delta. The total length of all rivers and canals is 5.700 kilometers. As a result, life in the Mekong Delta revolves mostly around the river, with most settlements accessible by river rather than road.
The main lure is the river's uniquely southern charm, which allows travelers to explore small riverside communities, sample fruits bartered in colorful floating marketplaces, and dine on home-cooked delights before spending the night as a homestay guest. Visits to local orchards, flower markets, and seafood farms are among the attractions. In the areas surrounding Soc Trang and Tra Vinh, there are additional bird sanctuaries, primitive beach resorts like Hon Chong, and spectacular Khmer pagodas.
There are over a dozen tourist-friendly villages in the delta, albeit some are rarely visited because they are not on the way anywhere. My Tho is well-equipped for boat cruises and is close enough to Ho Chi Minh City to be visited in a day; it offers a tantalizing sight of the delta's northernmost tributary, the Tien Giang. My Tho is only a short distance from laid-back Ben Tre and the abundant fruit orchards that surround it. Cao Lanh is only for birdwatchers, but Sa Dec, with its timeless river views and riotously colorful flower nurseries, has a broader appeal, and Vinh Long, just down the road, is another boat-launching spot.
