Danang is centrally located between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and is well connected to neighboring cities including as Hue and Hoi An. Danang can be reached in a variety of ways.
By plane
The smallest of Vietnam's three international airports, Da Nang International Airport is located in Da Nang. Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, and Pacific Airlines (formerly Jetstar Pacific) offer frequent flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as international service to Seoul-Incheon, Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou, Siem Reap, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo-Narita and Shanghai-Pudong, as well as domestic service between Da Lat, Hai Phong, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku and Nha Trang.
Da Nang is a bit laid back compared to large Vietnamese airports. There are also several restaurants/coffee store facing the terminus, with a choice, if not lower prices, than within the departure area, when local travelers often arrive within less than 30 minutes before flying.
The airport is within the city limits, only 3 kilometers south-west of Danang's central business district and a 10-minute drive away. Many tourists now stay in Da Nang because it serves as a gateway to the Central Vietnam World Heritage Sites of My Son (1-1.5 hours) and Hoi An (25-30 minutes), as well as Hue (2 hours).
By train
The train station in Da Nang is located on Hai Phong Street, about five kilometers from the city center. Long journeys should be taken on soft seats, but if you're just passing through Hue, the inexpensive hard seat alternative is far more enjoyable. Four trains a day stop at Lang Co en route to Hue, each costing $1.00 (two hours). Lang Co now offers a plethora of hotels, and using the train rather than the bus from Da Nang is a significantly more convenient and cost-effective option.
To Hue, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
Trains with odd numbers travel north, whereas trains with even numbers travel south. Although the TN trains are slower, they are still a fantastic value. The SH (shuttle trains) connect Hue and Saigon; they're the slowest kind of transportation, making all local stops, and aren't much cheaper than a hard seat. Only use this option if you need to get off the train at a station that isn't on the main line.
In Da Nang, the Reunification Express makes a stop. In addition to riding the non-stop train to Hanoi, if you merely want to get to Hue (around 2 hours).
By bus
Da Nang bus station serves both the north and south of the country, with numerous departures for all internal routes from extremely early morning to late at night. Buses run frequently between Da Nang and Hue (about 50,000 VND ~ $2.00).
Buses depart in the afternoon from Hanoi's Giap Bat station, taking 14 to 16 hours and costing $19.00 (about 450,000 VND).
Depending on the bus provider, tickets to Ho Chi Minh City cost roughly $17.00 (about 400,000d). Pleiku is served by various buses from which you can travel to Laos and Cambodia. Sleeper buses depart Da Nang at 20:30 to 20:50 and cost around $15.00 (about 345,000d). However, if you take a morning bus between 06:30 and 08:00, it is cheaper.
Buses to Quy Nhon cost roughly $9.00 (about 150,000d), Nha Trang, and Da Lat are also available.
